The 10 Common Woman Rider Problems Solved For You Once And For All

Rider Struggle 1:  HEELS DOWN!

‘Heels Down’ is a prime example of an ‘unclarity of language that ends up causing misunderstandings.’ You’re told what to do (over and over again), but not why or HOW.  So the rider does her best to comply with the instruction unaware that this lack of HOW results in never ending tension & imbalance???

Until now.  This week, you learn why Heels Down matters, and HOW to achieve this riding skill.  You’ll discover the ‘sweet spot,’ that place where you are fully engaged in your riding and completely relaxed at the same time.  

You’ll feel the difference in your body right away, and your horse on your very next ride! ??

And, finding the ‘sweet spot’ is a theme that weaves through the course so will soon be 2nd nature to you.

Rider Struggle 2: SHOULDERS BACK!

URGHHHH!  Clearly hearing ‘Shoulders Back’ a million times doesn’t work because they never stay there.???

Nor is this a reflection of your ‘ability’ to ride. Not at all because this happens for a reason.

That is, your shoulders can’t stay back because your shoulders aren’t the problem, they are a symptom of a problem which is...

Riding with ease and balance can only happen when you work as a system, when every part of you participates. This is a fundamental truth to all riding disciplines, and a theme that runs through this course.

This week, you’ll discover the connection between your shoulders, back and pelvis so your shoulders can slide back and stay there.??

I think you’ll be amazed at how quickly you improve now that you ‘work as a system.’

Rider Struggle 3: Tipped Forward

You are not alone.  Most every woman rider deals with this difficulty, and strains in vain to sit back.???  

Why is that?

There are a few factors at play here.  A woman’s pelvis naturally sits more in front of the center than a man’s (that business of having babies).  Also, it can be a defensive fear based position (falling), and all tension creates imbalance. 

But this doesn’t mean you can’t ‘sit back,’ because you can.  

The answer is always to ‘work as a system,’ and this week you recalibrate your center through proprioception - where you are in space.

It feels a little weird at first because you aren’t used to it, but, every system in your body will soon adopt it because nature strives for ease…

And so does your horse…this change in your center is the link between your ‘sweet spot’ and your horse stepping his hind legs under to carry you with ease.??

Rider Struggle 4: SIT STRAIGHT!

Sit straight is often interpreted as being rigid and your back concaves because no one really explains how to do it.???

Then the harder you try the worse everything gets. ??

The reason is that you are using the wrong kind of ‘trying hard.’  

Until now.  

In this week’s module you discover another option available to you, that is The Art Of ‘Feel,’ the very feel you want your horse to have.

What you experience in the movement lesson is the interconnection between muscles, bone and flexibility so your entire torso stacks and feels light and full of promise.

It is freeing to not lift and crunch and be stiff as a board and to stop struggling.

It is especially freeing when you ‘feel’ how this posture can be as soft as it is stable to follow your horse’s motion...your horse will release his neck & exhale.??

Rider Struggle 5: Crooked

Has this ever happened to you?  You put yourself in the middle of the saddle, determined to stay there this time, and you do, until the second you think of something else, then BAM! You go right back to crooked.  URGHHH! ???

Then you lose that one stirrup, again.  Or your foot goes through the other one.

When will it end!?

The answer is today, because in this week’s class you offer your balance system a better deal.

You can count on the positive outcome because every system in your body works to keep you safe.

As the distribution of your weight and balance improves, tension reduces & flow begins… and your horse becomes lighter.  As your riding becomes easier and more rewarding the negative self talk stops, replaced by thoughts of ‘I can.’ ??

It’s all connected. 

Rider Struggle 6: LOOK UP!

Sounds so easy to do, but nope, it isn’t.???

The eyes and the head carriage greatly impact the ‘sweet spot.’  

What I mean is when a rider’s body knowledge doesn’t ‘work as a system’ then the weight of your ‘bowling ball’ head forces you to stiffen and hold yourself on the horse...your horse braces in response.

Also, the eyes set the tonus for the entire body.  What I’m talking about is beyond soft eyes, that’s true yes, but not complete.

I’m talking about your eyes being part of your ‘movement patterns,’ and in this week’s class, recreating a movement cooperation. 

This translates to a head-to-toe flowing body that can influence your horse with refinement, what direction to go in, what gait you’d like, how slow, how fast. ??

Rider Struggle 7: Lopsided

You know in your head what you want your body to do, but you can’t get your body to do it, URGHHHH!???

And this unevenness makes your horse crooked with choppy gaits.  Your circles are shaped like potatoes, and your corners are a shoving match.

Though no one will ever be perfectly symmetrical, we can all improve and improve to come closer to this alignment.??

In this week’s module you gain clarity about why one side collapses, and how to ‘reorganize’ your movement so your muscle memory can give you what you want...a posture that is attractive and functional at the same time meaning a seat that is dynamic so you can follow your horse’s motion while in the ‘sweet spot.’

Rider Struggle 8: Gripping Legs

No one wants to grip.

But the trouble is knowing not know what else to do.???

The solution starts with the symptom/cause evaluation.  As is often the case, the gripping isn’t a problem, it’s a symptom of a problem.  

The root cause of gripping with the legs is not knowing how to transmit the motion of the horse through you.  So every once of the horse’s motion either has you bouncing all over the place or gripping to stay on.  Yuck!

But that ends with this class.

Because this is when you discover exactly how to make this ‘must have’ skill yours.  

It is safe to say that once you have this, you’ll be clear on how the rider you admire sits so quietly on her horse.??

And, with this comes a new found confidence in you.  What was once so mysterious is now so clear, and is now yours. 

Rider Struggle 9: HANDS DOWN!

Everyone says you can’t have good hands until you have an ‘independent’ seat.

BUT...while that is true, it’s not the whole picture.

What I mean is that gaining body knowledge about your hands not only serves your hands, but your seat too...this is a dichotomy of riding, for you move your body with coordination and independence the interdependence of your movement patterns needs to be valued and incorporated.???

This week you learn how to have your hands down in a way that lets you coordinate your hands, seat and legs so all your aids make sense to your horse.??

Q1: What is a BETA course?

This means it is the first run of a new course.  Yes, the Successful Woman Rider Course springs from 3 past courses, but that content is being reorganized, taught in new ways plus there is new material added. 

I have the BETA modules outlined, but I revamp as we go.  This means there is an element of flexibility that goes with a BETA.  For instance, the schedule may change as I create new content to fully meet your desires & needs.

In exchange for your willingness to flow with the course creation you get to really get your voice heard, and you get automatic enrollment in the finished version of the course when I run it again, for no additional fee (plus any added bonuses).

I want this to be a win-win for you, me and every rider who joins us!

Q2: There are other riding programs… How is Successful Woman Rider Course different?

I LOVE this question. Hands down, there are great riding programs out there.

You can work with an instructor in group and private lessons. I’ve personally taken thousands of hours in riding lessons, read every well-known book on riding, watched videos, used metaphors & visualization, sat on swivel chairs, and gone through multiple fitness & stretching programs. All of which are valuable in their own right.

However, you will not find a training program out there like the Successful Woman Rider Course.

Instead of pointing out what you need to fix, drilling you with information, and telling you what you’re doing wrong, what I teach you breaks bad habits previously thought to be right, you relearn an ease you thought long gone that recalibrates your center and your balance and transforms your muscle memory from pitched forward, humpty-dumpty like, slumped back into a long, relaxed, following seat that happens automatically.

I teach you easy ways to build on top of that so you know in your bones the how and why of what you do to ride with the classical line in all the gaits.

You will not experience an empowerment like this anywhere else.

Q3: What happens in the mounted lesson? 

This is such a great question as the Successful Woman Rider Course mounted lessons are completely unique, and if you are riding right now, an added asset to your progress.

Your mounted lesson is downloaded onto the device of your choice. From there, have you and your horse in a place where you feel safe, that might be a round pen or an open field, you may prefer to be alone or with people around...it’s entirely up to you.

Then the recording guides you through a session that brings everything you learned during the workshop onto your horse. It is specifically designed for you to learn how to allow your horse move freely and to follow this movement. You feel what a “correct” seat is, and how to direct your horse with simple shifts in your weight that he can feel, but keep you centered and safe.

Q4: Do I have to canter in the mounted lesson?

You do not have to canter.

Every recording is done at the walk, and I recommend you start there even if you are a very advanced rider. Once you have gone through it, feel free to revisit the lesson at the trot or canter if you want to.

Q5: What if I don’t have my own horse… can I still join!

Absolutely! And not only that, you’ll get 3x more out of every hour you ride whether you’re on a leased horse, a friend’s horse or a lesson horse.

Here’s the reason...the classes, unmounted and mounted session develop your “circuitry,” your “muscle memory,” your “habit” of being centered and stable so you arrive at the barn feeling prepared and confident.

Q6: Can I still join if I don’t live near you in the U.S.?

Definitely! In fact, every rider I’ve supported over the past 10 years has been entirely online whether she lives nearby or abroad.

Q7: What is my time commitment to be part of the “Successful Woman Rider Course?”

The unmounted portion of the workshop is 1 hour a week. You can join the unmounted workshop live and/or go through the program at your own pace because you have lifetime access to the program, materials and bonuses.

Just as with any training, you will still need to set time aside in order to complete each module. Many of the women who have gone through the program have reported that this training replaced many of the outdated exercises they were trying previously. You’ll find that you actually save time by going through them because you’ll be eliminating old techniques that get you fighting yourself. 

Q8: I’m dealing with pain from arthritis...I’m not flexible….I’m not in shape...can I really do the Successful Woman Rider Course?

YES! In fact, this workshop is perfect for you because it will bring you the best functioning possible for your situation, and may very possibly get rid of stiffness and pain entirely - I can say this because it has for dozens upon dozens of women riders just like you!

Q9: I have knee replacement, hip replacement, various plates and screws...can the Successful Woman Rider Course really help me?

YES! Bring your hardware because many, many riders before you already have. You will walk away with the best possible outcome of mobility and stability from the program. Above you can read about Judi Qualls, who had ankle replacement, and hear what she gained from working with me.

Q10: Do I need to buy any special equipment to do this program? 

That depends. Here’s what you need to do this course… a stool or chair with no arms, a place to sit and lay down, a device to watch the recordings, and a device to listen to the mounted sessions.

You may find you already have these items available to you right now.

Q11: What if I have questions about the program as I go through it? Is there any support for me?

YES! I am here to answer any questions you may have in our private facebook group. You have lifetime access, and I’m in there consistently so you’ll have your answer in no time. 

Q12: I’m not riding at the moment, will I still benefit from The Successful Woman Rider Course?

YES!  This course is unmounted so you can gain all the benefit from the unmounted session, and if/when you are riding again everything you gained will go automatically with you into the saddle with you.  And you then have the mounted session to support you if you want.
