The Woman Rider Restoration Course

Creaky To Cooperative - 30 Days For Improved Balance, Stability and Suppleness

What if your body just knew what to do in the saddle in a span of just four weeks?

Or, let me say it another way:

What if, in just under a month, you could add an asset to your riding that continues to grow long after you complete this course?

An asset that grows your coordination, your ease of movement and your flow with your horse, and above all else, your SELF-TRUST.

If you want that riding experience to be your riding experience, I’ve got something for you:

After creating and growing high-quality progress in my riding, I’ve bundled everything I know into one course so you can know in your head what you want your body to do and your body cooperates in the saddle…

Where it belongs…

This is a strain-free, sweat-free, stress-free, approach to train your brain & body to move beautifully and with ease that translates directly to riding.

(And it works.)

This is the Woman Rider Restoration Course

I’ve heard, like you’ve probably heard, that ‘you need to work on your seat’. We see it in all the publications and hear it over and over in every lesson.

We’re told that fitness and stretching are the solution. So we spend endless hours and dollars following that advice. Only to prove one thing: how willing we are to ‘try hard’ and ‘try so hard’ to
be the rider we imagine ourselves to be.

BUT HERE’S THE THING:

Most fitness regimens stretch tight muscles and strengthen weaker ones! We have high hopes that it will improve our riding, but it never significantly does.

Why? Because it incorrectly addresses the symptom rather than the cause of the weaker and tighter muscles.

This means your asymmetry is exacerbated and that makes your riding worse. AND...

For instance:

When your legs and hips become so tight the sitting trot is impossible. Our movement becomes so rigid that it tweaks our aches and pains and -- maybe the worst part -- we’re still stuck with an uncoordinated and uncooperative body.

Whatever results we see off the horse we lose when the fitness regimen stops taking us right back to square one.

BUT THAT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE YOU.

Inside The Woman Rider Restoration Course you’ll get exactly what you need to have a functional body freedom that translates perfectly to your riding.

And you’ll do it faster, more successfully, and with flow.

If you have a bit of focus, you can ride well and with a generous dose of grace.

You might just need a different strategy to get there...

Imagine…

Instead of straining and huffing and puffing, shift to awareness-based, simple movements. Some will make you more stable. Others will make you more supple. All will improve your coordination, your balance, and your posture on and off the horse.

Instead of trying hard, shift to sensory motor learning to access the part of your BRAIN that is in charge of coordination and healthy, functional movement that your horse will thank you for.

Instead of fancy footwork, shift to slow practice under non-fatigued, no stress, no judgement conditions to iron out ineffective movement patterns & emerge with lovely riding skills in place and ready to go.

That’s what The Woman Rider Restoration Course is all about!

Sure, at some point you need a horse to better your riding (we’ll get to the horse part later)...

but for now we focus on YOU… so you can Do Less To A.C.H.I.E.V.E. More.

So who put this thing together?

Hi! I’m Heather Beachum, creator of The Woman Rider Restoration Course.

I’m a 4 decade rider as well as a Feldenkrais® practitioner (that means sensory-motor teacher),

and YUP! I’ve been supporting mature women riders online for the past 11 years, and...

Using what I’ve learned AND what the 100s of riders in these courses have asked me for...I have packaged a 20 minute a day for 30 day course (to accommodate busy schedules while getting the same extraordinary results), and now I’m sharing it with you inside The Woman Rider Restoration Course.

Easy to follow presentations about working with the central nervous system to recalibrate your movement patterns that will make you more stable, more supple, improve your coordination, balance & posture in and out of the saddle.

Even if, actually especially if, you have aches and pains, I can help you with that too!

When your back and legs are released from the tyranny of long overworked muscles, you feel agile, light and grounded and enjoy a spring in your step!

A restored ease and flow to your body is within reach!

Let me help you get there.

"I’m Cantering Happily And Making Steady Progress!"

"Before I started working with Heather, I was held back in my riding from tension trying to hold myself in place, holding my breath, and a fear of falling. I was taking lessons with excellent instructors, riding regularly, working on my physical fitness, particularly my core, but the improvements were minimal, at best.

Since I've been working with Heather, I recognize how I've been fighting myself and not even knowing it. Now, I’m cantering happily and in a lovely circle!!!! I LOVE it!

Also, I have rediscover balance and relaxation in the saddle, and with it, my joy of riding. My new accomplishments bring respect to my horse’s body and mind, and we are now making steady progress together. Heather has helped me in a way no riding instructor ever has! Thank You Heather!

"Now I Can Relax In The Saddle!"

"Before working with Heather, the judge’s comment was: “the basics of rhythm, relaxation, and contact are lacking.” I realized that I needed to address my inability to relax in the saddle, before I could fix the other issues.

Then Heather taught me how to create effortless movement and how to apply it to my riding. After just a few weeks I rode for the same judge, and was able to sit the trot with a deep balanced seat! That allowed me to focus on developing a more supple connection over a rounder topline. Thank you Heather for helping me relax in the saddle and enjoy every ride!"

Who is The Woman Rider Restoration Course for?

The Athlete

If you’re tired of being held back by a body that won’t cooperate, a great way to advance what you’re already doing is to improve your movement patterns. Movements that free your hips and back from long-held patterns of muscular contractions, create a foundation of power, free of force and strain, to eliminate stress on joints, and experience how ribs that are springy and supple impact your influence with your horse to improve scores or even a prerequisite for a higher caliber horse.

Power that is free of force and white noise gives you limitless capacity to move up the levels.

The Artist

Want your ride to flow? Having the wave-like oscillation of the pelvis, spine and head transforms ‘posture’ from holding a position into a functional body freedom, where you are both stable & dynamic to amplify or quiet your movements as you choose.
What we hear from our students is this: ‘I wish I’d had The Woman Rider Restoration Course 20 years ago because I would have saved so much frustration and exhausting effort (and money too, because none of this is taught in riding lessons).’

The Adventurer

Already riding the trails? Great! Many, if not most, of our students are long time riders, yet get a TON of value from the WRRC because they get the Do Less To A.C.H.I.E.V.E More Method. That means as the
primary lines of your torso recalibrate for the stability & mobility of your center, you drop into your center of gravity. Imagine how much more safety and enjoyment your rides could be when you have access to a playbook of successful women riders?

“Now my horse is softer, and I get compliments on my seat!”

“Before I started working with Heather I was facing fear, and my body was so messed up.

I noticed a difference the very first session, and it just got better from there as each week is so valuable.

Now my horse is softer, and I get compliments on my seat! I recommend this program even if you don’t have your own horse. Every week you will head to the barn with a new confidence. Thank you, Heather!”

“Now, I melt into the saddle and move with my horse. No thinking about it, IT JUST HAPPENED!”

“Before working with Heather, I felt stiff and wasn’t moving with my horse at all unless I forced it, and I had a lot of pain. After one class with Heather my hips weren’t hurting, and rarely bother me now.

And, much to my surprise, after a couple of weeks into the course, I melted into the saddle, moved with my horse and felt better than I ever remember in the saddle. It just happened. No thinking about it, or straining to do it.

Then after the class I went on a trail ride. Not only did my horse break into a trot, but he cantered and jumped up a river bank. I was able to go with him every step of the way and felt confident in doing so. I can't wait to get back up on my own horses. I highly recommend Heather's classes as a way to improve your riding, even if you aren't riding at the time. Thank you Heather!”

What’s different about The Woman Rider Restoration Course?

It is noteworthy that many artists, performers and athletes use slow motion learning and movements to improve performance and stay injury free.

In this video below I map out exactly how you, as a mature rider, can capitalize on slow, strain-free movement learning, to restore coordination, balance & posture using my proprietary movement recalibration lessons.

Maybe you always dreamed of flowing on your horse but never knew where to learn how to FLOW on your horse.

Maybe you have an idea of what you want your body to do but don’t know how to actually get that to happen without force.

Maybe the overthinking overwhelms you.

Maybe you find yourself getting stuck in movement ruts that tweek aches and pains.

Maybe you worry if you can really improve how your body moves while staying injury free.

Maybe you think riding with feel is only for those with tons of ride time.

Maybe you hear the words ‘loose rein, tight rein, more leg, less leg, be strong in the abs, relaxed and soft through my lower back, loose in the shoulders but heavy in the elbows’ and…

think that you’ll be in your rocking chair before you catch up to the learning curve...

None of those should be - or need to be - reasons not to be a lovely rider.

BUT, if you are stuck on where to start…

Or better yet, you want to learn how to work with your brain to turn your body & movement into a powerful ally & asset in your riding...

The Woman Rider Restoration Course is for you.

What’s Inside:

Once you join, you are free to go through the course in your own time and in your own way because you have lifetime access.

That means that in just four short weeks, you can have the course finished and in the saddle (and growing your riding skills!).

Here’s what our 4-Phase system entails:

Phase-1: Discover The Foundation of Stability and Suppleness

7 sessions that reconnect you with the primary lines of your torso to improve the stability & mobility of your center. Each lesson helps you develop coordination of your pelvis, spine and chest & a more symmetrical use of your torso freeing your spine to lengthen.

The simultaneous sensations of lightness & groundedness you experience from these sessions crystalize how truly capable you are to quickly improve and make high-quality progress in your riding.

In these 7 movement sessions, you’ll discover ways of moving your body that you never imagined. As tension disappears, your balance improves, bringing calm to your central nervous system. This is FLOW... This is EASE… This translates directly to your riding...to amplify your movements or be as quiet as you wish.

"I Was So Surprised With How Quickly My Riding Changed!"

"Before I started Heather’s program I was dealing with injuries and fear issues around cantering.

I saw Heather's program, and was very hesitate to enroll at first, thinking this couldn't possibly help me. But I just felt it was the right thing for me to do, so I signed up, and am I happy I did!

Shortly after starting with Heather changes in my riding happened quickly. Right away I began to ride without tension, being centered in my saddle and my hands got more quiet.

Now, I'm cantering happily, and I just did an obstacle competition and it was so great to just stop at each place and know exactly how my weight was balanced in my seat, where my legs were, my feet in the stirrups and where my hands were. We got great scores! And I never felt rushed. I plan to ride a lot this spring and summer and will be listening to my mounted sessions as I go along in my riding. Thank you, Heather!"

"Doing this workshop is so much better than trying to sort it out from a book."

I LOVED the workshop!

The effect it had on my hips is so great, I think everyone could benefit from this. Heather's teaching manner is simply lovely, and doing her lessons is so much better than trying to sort it out from a book, etc.

I am very grateful for Heather's skill and expertise in straightening out our crooked old bodies!

Thank you, Heather!

You might be reading this and thinking:

"What if I feel awkward and stiff? What if I can barely move my body without fear, tension and creaking?"

While I enjoy advanced progress now, that is far from how things got started.

When I got back in the saddle as an adult I knew in my head what I wanted my body to do, but my body wouldn't cooperate. I had maybe a little coordination or balance in any gait. Basically, I was a block of wood.

But once I started Feldenkrais lessons, my balance, suppleness and posture improved, riding progress started and has never stopped.

Inside The Woman Rider Restoration Course, I share with you exactly what I have done to accomplish all of that in a relatively short amount of time.

Better still, I'm sharing the same system that hundreds of students of mine have used to improve their core stability without straining, get agile legs and hip joints without stretching, gain spatial acuity and a power that is free of force and strain (and gain calm & self-trust in the process!).

As I mentioned earlier, the Woman Rider Restoration Course evolved from my student requests. These riders requested the same extraordinary results they gained from my longer programs, but delivered in shorter sessions that can be woven into busy schedules without any stress.

DONE!

Here you can meet some of the riders who helped me create this course for you.

“The Judge's comments now include FLOWING, FORWARD and ROUND!”

“Before I worked with Heather I struggled with imbalances and tension, not sitting evenly, holding my breath and unsteady contact. None of the instructors or courses I took helped me. I felt overwhelmed because I was on a vicious cycle of tension with my horse.

Shortly after Heather’s program began, I was able to makes the changes I want in my riding, and that has resulted in me being a more consistent rider. I also received my highest marks yet winning a first and fourth place.

Now, I’m enjoying my riding again, my lessons are happier and more productive for my horse, and judge’s comment now include “flowing, forward and round!” Thank you, Heather, riding is fun again.”

"The Difference In The Way I Ride Is Glorious!"

“Before working with Heather all the effort I put into my riding left me tense with labored breathing which made my horse stiff and unresponsive.

Her program gave me so much insight into myself, my body and my mind, and through it I have improved my body awareness, and the difference in the way I ride is glorious. I have greater self-confidence, and my horses are happy and much more connected with me and vice versa. This is the most fantastic course I have had the privilege to be part of. I cannot thank Heather enough for sharing her knowledge and expertise.”

“I do NOT ride crooked anymore!”

“Before I starting working with Heather, I was dealing with an old ankle injury and the surgery that came with that. I have done physical therapy, but I was still weak, and rode crooked in my saddle.

Then, immediately after the first class I could feel a difference. My balance and confidence in the saddle started improving right away. Heather’s classes have improved my ride tremendously, I do not ride crooked anymore, I even walk more balanced. Thank you, Heather!"

Frequently Asked Questions…

When does The Woman Rider Restoration Course start? How long do I have access? And how much time should I budget to go through this?

When you join The Woman Rider Restoration Course, you’ll get lifetime access, and it starts as soon as you join! So you can start today! Or tomorrow! Or next week! Or next year! (Though my vote, and I’ll bet your horse’s vote too, is for starting s.o.o.n.e.r. rather than later!) It’s a self-paced course so you can go as fast or as slow as you wish, at 20 minutes per session for 30 sessions. Above all, however long it takes, once you have your functional body freedom, you’ve added an ally & asset that continues to grow long after you complete this course. Sweet!

Will I get help from Heather? Is there mentoring or a community as I work through the course and take everything onto my horse?

YES! As you restore your balance, posture and suppleness using the simple movement lessons inside The Woman Rider Restoration Course, you’ll get help directly from me (Heather) inside our students’ only support group. I am available in the group during the week to answer questions & give feedback whether you are riding mostly on your own or riding in lessons and clinics. You’ll find unparalleled support inside our student community.

What if I already have Even Stirrups©? Will The Woman Rider Restoration Course be a waste of my time? Is there a lot of overlap?

Even Stirrups© and The Woman Rider Restoration Course are very different in their size & scope. While they share the same objective, working with the brain to turn your body & movement into a powerful ally & asset in your riding, there is no overlap with the two programs. Quite the contrary, we consider Even Stirrups© the first step while The Woman Rider Restoration Course is the next step. That said, many of our Even Stirrups© students choose to join The Woman Rider Restoration Course shortly after joining Even Stirrups© because they get tremendous support inside our student group and get the feedback they need to progress faster.

I’ve never heard of the Feldenkrais® Method. Will it work for me?

? I get it. I hadn’t heard of the method either until one day it appeared out of the blue. There’s a saying, ‘When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.’ I think that’s what happened in my case.

Basically, Feldenkrais® teachings are hard to explain, but easy to do.

It is designed to work with sensory motor learning. This is the part of your brain which relates to your motor skills - your coordination, the health of your posture. Sensory motor learning is how the acquisition and development of all human movement takes place. It begins in the information feedback process between your senses, muscles and brain.

Feldenkrais® lessons works for anyone with a brain that is willing to pay attention,

Because, Feldenkrais lessons are awareness based, simple movement sequences. Some make you more supple, some make you more stable, all improve your coordination, posture and calm.

In the Woman Rider Restoration Course I assembled Feldenkrais lessons that target the needs of the mature woman rider.

So if you’re ready to move as well as you can or as well as you’d like to, and are willing to focus for 20 minutes a day for 30 days, then I’d love to support you in reaching your full potential as a rider.

The Woman Rider Restoration Course.

What if I’m out of shape. Can I do this course?

Yes. All the movements are done slowly and with attention to ease, comfort and enjoyment. You don’t have to be particularly flexible or strong to start though it’s especially important to listen to your body and not push beyond your limits.

What if I find the movement sessions... too hard?

In the lessons, there are modification suggestions for exactly this. Should you revisit the lesson, you may find because of your cumulative improvements, that amazingly you are able to do all of the lessons with ease ?

What if I find the movement session... too easy?

There is always room for improvement! You can learn to do what you already do well with less effort and more flow so that you have energy left. These movement lessons & strategy are based on the teaching of Moshe Feldenkrais - many artists, sportsmen and performers use Feldenkrais teachings to drastically improve their performance.

Is there a cardiovascular component?

No. As opposed to traditional fitness, think of this as a restoration process - restore coordination AND ease into your body AND apply this in the saddle with presence and connection to your horse.

What if I have knee or hip replacements?

No worries. Many, many ladies have gone through this course with ease and joy because I suggest modifications to the movements so that they’re easily do-able. Yet, if you’ve had surgery recently, you need to consult your medical team.

I do Yoga? Is it like that?

No. Although some of the exercises may look like movements you would do in a yoga class, in Feldenkrais® lessons you are not seeking to achieve a perfect posture or a desired way of using your breath. Rather, you are exploring innovative movements that improve your movement skills to the point that inefficient movement patterns are ironed out and often pain and chronic discomfort melts away.

What equipment do I need to do The Woman Rider Restoration Course?

You need a computer, a bit of floor and a rug or mat to lie on & comfortable clothing.

What if I don’t have much in the way of riding skills or coordination?

Totally fine! You don’t need those things to have success with this strategy. Truly. I improved my riding 10 fold in a few short weeks with The Woman Rider Restoration Course, and I had maybe a little coordination or balance in my body. You don’t need those things to get started.

You just need to … start!
