HI, I'M HEATHER!

And I help women ride
with freedom,
fluidity
and confidence...

If there’s one way to describe you, woman rider, it might be... Horse-Crazy.

But, the girl of your youth is now a woman in a very different body, and you find yourself stiff, awkward and unflowing in the saddle.

Whether you want to compete, master the art of riding for personal fulfilment or you’re secretly thinking that maybe you waited too long to start riding again, you’re in the right place.

Since you’re here, this tells me that you know you want to ride in a way that feels great for you AND your horse.

But maybe you…

  • Know in your head what you want your body to do, but can’t get your body to do it,
  • Caught in a vicious cycle of tension with your horse, and the harder you try the worse it gets,
  • Constantly readjust & shift in the saddle making you certain that you’ll be correcting your seat till your dying day,
  • Find yourself stuck in a rut from misunderstandings, and hearing the instructor say the same thing over and over and over again,
  • Want to break bad habits and relearn good riding habits now that your body is different than it was 10 years ago so you can ‘get with’ your horse,
  • Struggle with stiffness and sore joints or have had too many injuries or surgeries so feel destined to be crooked in the saddle,
  • Wonder what direction to take to help you ride better...yoga, fitness, youtube and online training help, but you still don’t know what you’re doing and are no further on,
  • Feel isolated, like you’re the only one struggling with this. (You’re not, but it sure feels like it!),
  • Secretly think that being the effective, considerate rider you want to be is only possible for other woman riders, but maybe not for you…

No matter where you are in your riding you still want your horse to look to you with trust so you can both finish every ride with a sense of accomplishment and joy.
Only problem is: you don’t know how to make that a reality.
With people telling you to sit straight, shoulders back, sit soft, loose rein, tight rein, more leg, less leg, on and on and on...

It gets incredibly frustrating because what ends up happening is you wind up more and more tense... Your back concaves... Your breathing stops... And you’re going to scream if one more person yells at you to RELAAAX!

Trust me my friend, I’ve totally been there. My story isn’t so far from yours.

What I’ve learned is this...

  • You deserve to ride with relaxed attention so you can be fully present with your horse as you cover the ground together,
  • Now matter where you are in your riding or how old you are, you’ve earned the right to ride effortlessly. It is not reserved for a lucky few,
  • You can be the considerate, effective, kind rider who creates a positive cycle of balance and relaxation for endless confidence in the saddle,
  • Mother nature gave you the ability to create the ride you want. This untapped potential inside you is just waiting for you to wake it up!
  • I’m here to help you bring it to life so calm and flow are always yours in the saddle.

I’ve dedicated my life to give women like you the power to experience this grace in every single ride. Giving them the tools, knowledge, and confidence to take what their riding instructors are telling them to do and actually do it -- and do it well.

I’m going to tell you how I came to found Riding For Women, but first I want you to know this.

Successful Riding Is The Intersection Of 3 Main Components... And They’re How You’ll Create Consistent Progress And Be Proud Of Every Ride

What People Are Saying

“I do NOT ride crooked anymore!”

“Before I starting working with Heather, I was dealing with an old ankle injury and the surgery that came with that. I have done physical therapy, but I was still weak, and rode crooked in my saddle.

Then, immediately after the first class I could feel a difference. My balance and confidence in the saddle started improving right away. Heather’s classes have improved my ride tremendously, I do not ride crooked anymore, I even walk more balanced. Thank you, Heather!"

Jeana Morrison-Noel, Moccasin, Montana

"The Difference In The Way I Ride Is Glorious!"

“Before working with Heather all the effort I put into my riding left me tense with labored breathing which made my horse stiff and unresponsive.

Her program gave me so much insight into myself, my body and my mind, and through it I have improved my body awareness, and the difference in the way I ride is glorious. I have greater self-confidence, and my horses are happy and much more connected with me and vice versa. This is the most fantastic course I have had the privilege to be part of. I cannot thank Heather enough for sharing her knowledge and expertise.”

Ann Evans

“Now my horse is softer, and I get compliments on my seat!”

“Before I started working with Heather I was facing fear, and my body was so messed up.

I noticed a difference the very first session, and it just got better from there as each week is so valuable.

Now my horse is softer, and I get compliments on my seat! I recommend this program even if you don’t have your own horse. Every week you will head to the barn with a new confidence. Thank you, Heather!”

Kathy Bowman, Joseph, Oregon

"Now I Can Relax In The Saddle!"

"Before working with Heather, the judge’s comment was: “the basics of rhythm, relaxation, and contact are lacking.” I realized that I needed to address my inability to relax in the saddle, before I could fix the other issues.

Then Heather taught me how to create effortless movement and how to apply it to my riding. After just a few weeks I rode for the same judge, and was able to sit the trot with a deep balanced seat! That allowed me to focus on developing a more supple connection over a rounder topline. Thank you Heather for helping me relax in the saddle and enjoy every ride!"

Kym Watkin-Statham

"My horse jumped up a river bank. I was able to go with him every step and felt confident doing so!"

“Before working with Heather, I hadn't ridden for a bit, and was not brave enough to canter.

Then after a couple of classes I went on a trail ride, not only did my horse break into a trot, but he cantered and jumped up a river bank. I was able to go with him every step, and felt confident doing so!

I highly recommend Heather's class as a way to improve your hips and your riding, even if you aren't riding at the time. Thank you, Heather!"

Lana Tyler, Greeley, Colorado

"I’m Cantering Happily And Making Steady Progress!"

"Before I started working with Heather, I was held back in my riding from tension trying to hold myself in place, holding my breath, and a fear of falling. I was taking lessons with excellent instructors, riding regularly, working on my physical fitness, particularly my core, but the improvements were minimal, at best.

Since I've been working with Heather, I recognize how I've been fighting myself and not even knowing it. Now, I’m cantering happily and in a lovely circle!!!! I LOVE it!

Also, I have rediscover balance and relaxation in the saddle, and with it, my joy of riding. My new accomplishments bring respect to my horse’s body and mind, and we are now making steady progress together. Heather has helped me in a way no riding instructor ever has! Thank You Heather!

The gist is this: You may have waited decades to ride again, but now is the time to make that riding dream come to life.

There are no more decades to wait… it’s time to get on with the business of riding your horse well & with a calm confidence.

Hey! My name is Heather Beachum, founder of Riding for Women and, as you can already tell, I help women riders ride with balance, ease and flow (and in a way that her horse loves her for it)!

How did this become my life?

Well, in 1993, after a long break, I got back in the saddle.  It was great to ride again, I lived for it, but lessons and new riding experiences left me feeling frustrated, inadequate and quite often, very anxious.  But the worst part was my horse was happy when someone else rode him, but not happy with me as his rider, I was miserable.

So I enrolled in the Feldenkrais® training program as a simple approach to creating the brain-body connection for effortless movement, in hopes of developing riding skills with ease and efficiency.  I had no thought of making it my full-time job.  Not only that, I didn’t even know I COULD.

But my training became my “between barn obsession”

Between my strong desire and relentless curiosity to try new ideas, my riding improved during the week, at home, so I was better when I got back to the barn.  And I knew how to improve, on my own, in the saddle.

Eventually I finished the 4 year training, and decided to be a practitioner full time with a general practice.  But what happened is this, everyone I worked with rides so I would teach them to take the improvement they created off the horse onto their horse, and sure enough, riding struggles they had for years disappeared.

Then these ladies started asking me to come to their barn for clinics, then I started programs for riders (and this is coming from someone who is not a professional rider).

Since then, I’ve moved on to online programs — teaching thousands of aspiring women riders how to effortlessly balance herself and flow with her horse.

Crazy, right?

And now I want to help you to break the bad habit of tension and replace it with a positive cycle of relaxation and effectiveness so you can sit tall, with your shoulders back and look up (all those things you're told to do) with elegance and confidence.

Here’s my promise to you. When you and I work together in any of our 'Ride In The Moment Mastery' programs or 'Woman Rider Restoration' courses, you will:

  • Ride and breathe at the same time for lasting calm & balance,
  • Know what a correct seat feels like,
  • Say goodbye to aches and pains, and have your body feeling great everyday and with every ride,
  • Learn how to do less sooner so elegant, effective riding happens automatically,
  • Develop the feel (which your horse has to feel too) to be light & responsive,
  • Replace trying hard, grit and frustration with a rich learning experience so you can enjoy steady progress,
  • Coordinate your body so you can achieve a ‘movement’ and get your body to respond the way you want it to so never again are you stuck on a riding plateau
  • Release self-criticism and judgement and step into self-trust and know-how,
  • Enjoy the freedom and independence that comes with “I know what I’m doing.”

I can’t wait to see what happens for you!

We’re in this together,

Heather
